5-Aza-2'-deoxycytidine

C8H12N4O4

2353-33-5

Description

5-Aza-2-deoxycytidine (5-aza-dC; 5-aza-CdR; decitabine; ADC) is an important inhibitor of DNA methylation, and displays anticancer and antiviral activity. For a leading reference, see: Karpf, A. R.; Lasek, A. W.; Ririe, T. O.; Hanks, A. N.; Grossman, D.; Jones, D. A., Molecular Pharmacology 2004, 65, 18-27. It also inhibits inducible nitric oxide synthase activation (Miljkovic, D.; Cvetkovic, I.; Sajic, M.; Vuckovic, O.; Harhaji, L.; Markovic, M.; Trajkovic, V., European Journal of Pharmacology 2004, 485, 81-88).

PY 7106

5,6-Dihydro-5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine

C8H14N4O4

114522-16-6

Description

This compound has been studied for the treatment of HIV, where its ability to pair with multiple bases causes mutagenesis of the viral genome rather than exerting its effects by chain termination.1,2 See also 5-aza-dC (PY 7105) and 5,6-Dihydro-5-aza-dC CEP (BA 0237).
